Calibrated solar irradiation by sub-prefecture, Guinea (GHI, DNI, confidence), v3
Calibrated solar irradiance (GHI global horizontal and DNI direct normal) for the 340 sub-prefectures of Guinea, derived from the NASA POWER satellite corrected against ground measurements by a multi-donor ground calibration. The layer also carries the graded calibration confidence, the expected residual (p80), the latitude donor stations, and the derived operational quantities (HEP equivalent hours, specific yield, variability, diffuse fraction, humidex). For each sub-prefecture the layer also carries: the raw satellite-estimated global horizontal irradiation (NASA POWER, annual and monthly means, 1991 to 2020), for comparison with the calibrated value; the year-to-year variability of calibrated GHI (median year, value reached nine years out of ten, extreme years, 1991 to 2020); the monthly profile of calibrated DNI; and the coordinates of the reference point.

- Explanation
-
The transposition to the module plane and the thermal correction rely on an engine verified by comparison with the reference library pvlib. This conformance concerns the computation. The accuracy of the resource against ground measurements is established by the calibration residual.

The GHI calibration residual against ground measurements, at the 80th percentile, ranges from 2.4 to 5.8 % across sub-prefectures (median 3.4). The per-sub-prefecture value is carried in the layer.

DNI calibration residual at the 80th percentile
- Measure description
-
The DNI calibration residual, at the 80th percentile, ranges from 6.0 to 16.2 % across sub-prefectures (median 6.5), reaching two to three times the GHI residual in the cloudy south. The direct resource is less bankable. The per-sub-prefecture value is carried in the layer.

- Statement
-
The NASA POWER satellite irradiance (1991-2020 normal) is corrected season by season against the five nearest ground measurement stations in latitude, weighted by the latitude gap (multi-donor ground calibration, ESMAP/WAPP 2021-2023 campaign). For each sub-prefecture, the atlas publishes the calibrated irradiance, the expected residual at the 80th percentile (p80) floored on the nearest donor station, and a graded confidence in three levels: high confidence, high uncertainty, to be instrumented. The climatology follows the 1991-2020 normal of the World Meteorological Organization. The yield and its uncertainty are propagated by a validated deterministic engine (POA transposition, NOCT thermal correction, degradation) with Monte-Carlo analysis and Sobol indices. This layer combines the NASA POWER satellite, the RDS Guinea series (CC BY 4.0, DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21051754), the ground stations of the ESMAP/WAPP 2021-2023 campaign and the COD-AB administrative baselines (WFP/OCHA/ITOS). The raw values come from the public NASA POWER API (parameter ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN, RE community), averaged month by month over 1991 to 2020 at the reference point, one request per satellite grid cell. The variability is computed offline from the calibrated daily series; these series are not published.
